UCLA AO’s have stated the following: Waitlist selections are generally a continuation of the regular admission process, with consideration given to students’ original scores from application readers and whether their intended areas of study fill enrollment holes that year along with the waitlist essay and updated course/grades.
Based on previous year’s decision dates, it is predicted to be today around 5PM PST. UCLA does not give any advance notice for their decisions.
UCLA is the single largest supplier of med school applicants in the country. USC is in the top 30 (and 6th largest private university supplier of med school applicants). So both schools will have support staff who are familiar with process and can competently advise your child on the details of applying.
UCLA only guarantees review of an applicant’s first-choice major. UCLA typically does not admit to the alternate major. Selective majors include all majors in the Professional colleges along with the College of Engineering. UCLA has a 4 year housing guarantee if the student meets the priority deadlines.

UCLA like all the UC’s are test blind and will use 13 areas of criteria to review Freshman applicants. Each campus will weight the various areas of criteria differently so one size does not fit all.
