Their cabelas brand products were great value for the money and stores were always stocked with reasoanble prices. After Bass Pro ate them up, the Cabelas brand disappeared and was replaced with the Bass Pro brand. Prices were hiked across the board and the variety of selection usually found at Cabelas disappeared.

Unfortunately this isn’t new for Cabelas but it has gotten worse since the buy out. I hate brick and mortar unless it’s truly and speciality service I’m after…like advice on a product or service. There’s no expertise at Cabela’s anymore so just buy it online.
This is a Cabelas VX-R, which is the same as the Marcum VX-1. It just was made for Cabelas and has their name on it. It has 600 watts of power, bottom zoom, 20 degree transducer, IR button and a case. (currently I have it out of the case.) It pretty much has the same features as a Vexilar FL-18.
When I had Cabelas do it for me they did all of the things you guys are talking about, it took them a while but they did a great job. I also only bought the scope and mounting from them. That’s great. A quality install assures less problems in the field. Plus the more comfortable you are with vision will reflect in consistency.
Went to Cabelas for a new hunting jacket. I was told by multiple sales employees that Cabelas brand apparel and products are only warrantied for 90 days unless you want to purchase an extended 1 year warranty. What in the world is up with that? When considering your next purchase be sure to ask the warranty details, don’t just assume!
