Since 1970, SOME has been a care provider and a beacon of hope to residents in our nation’s capital. Our services are available to individuals, families, senior citizens, veterans and those affected by physical or mental illness. SOME welcomes both adult and youth volunteers who are willing to commit time in support of our mission. Opportunities include youth initiatives, holiday events, family and meal services, and more. No level of commitment is too small and all are encouraged to take a more active role in our organization.
The SOME Center for Employment Training (CET) is a licensed post-secondary vocational school. We offer free, hands-on training in the healthcare and building trades fields. In addition to providing technical instruction—in areas such as CPR, First Aid, Heating and Venting—we also train our students in the soft skills they need to land a job.
Addressing all aspects of our clients’ needs, SOME Senior Services enriches, empowers, and improves the lives of DC’s low-income seniors.
