I suspect that on your machine, it might be causing issues with the sound as it is putting the sound output to a sleep mode that never seems to wake up again when you start back up from a supposed cold start (which, if you do the reading on Fast Start up, shutdown is the new reboot and reboot is the new cold start lol).
