Reina is the second female Devil Gene user in the series, after Kazumi Mishima. Reina is affected by Headbutt Carnival, but was originally not affected by Bitch Slaps until Season 2. Reina's voice actor, Asami Seto, previously voiced Emilie de Rochefort in Street Fighter X Tekken.
The son of famed Barcelona and Atlético Madrid goalkeeper Miguel Reina, Pepe Reina began his career with the Barcelona youth team and made his La Liga debut in the 2000–01 season.
