When I went to renew I saw an eye doctor first, so I could get new glasses and pass the DMV test, but the eye doctor said my eyes were easily good enough to pass without glasses, so he gave me a form to submit to DMV. Our AA accent in the DMV is from the tidewater area of southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. There are linguistic maps that show this. The accents for other races are basically anywhere USA. I agree with you regarding the accent stemming from the tidewater area AA accent. Also, there are many similarities between the accents today.
