Rutherford Cremation And Funeral Services: Memorial Information

Ernest Rutherford, 1st Baron Rutherford of Nelson (30 August 1871 – 19 October 1937 [9]), was a New Zealand physicist and chemist who was a pioneering researcher in both atomic and nuclear physics.

Ernest Rutherford, British physicist who discovered that the atom is mostly empty space surrounding a massive nucleus and who did many pioneering experiments with radioactivity.

Rutherford was knighted in 1914; he was appointed to the Order of Merit in 1925, and in 1931 he was created First Baron Rutherford of Nelson, New Zealand, and Cambridge. He was elected Fellow of the Royal Society in 1903 and was its President from 1925 to 1930.

Ernest Rutherford (1871–1937) postulated the nuclear structure of the atom, discovered alpha and beta rays, and proposed the laws of radioactive decay. He received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1908.

Ernest Rutherford (1871 – 1937) was a New Zealand-born British physicist and recipient of the 1908 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He is often called the “father of nuclear physics.”

Ernest Rutherford is the father of nuclear chemistry and nuclear physics. He discovered and named the atomic nucleus, the proton, the alpha particle, and the beta particle.

In 1907, Rutherford took the chair of physics at the University of Manchester. There, he discovered the nuclear nature of atoms and was the world's first successful "alchemist": he converted nitrogen into oxygen.

Rutherford eventually coined the terms for some of the most basic principles in the field: alpha, beta, and gamma rays, the proton, the neutron, half-life, and daughter atoms. Several of the...

A pioneer of nuclear physics and the first to split the atom, Ernest Rutherford was awarded the 1908 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his theory of atomic structure. Dubbed the “Father of the Nuclear...

This is a biography of Ernest Rutherford, a British physicist whose research led to modern nuclear physics.

Ernest Rutherford was born on 30 August 1871 in Brightwater, New Zealand, [19] the fourth of twelve children of James Rutherford, an immigrant farmer and mechanic from Perth, Scotland, and Martha Thompson, a schoolteacher from Hornchurch, England. [19][20][21] Rutherford's birth certificate was mistakenly written as 'Earnest'.

Ernest Rutherford is known for his pioneering studies of radioactivity and the atom. He discovered that there are two types of radiation, alpha and beta particles, coming from uranium. He found that the atom consists mostly of empty space, with its mass concentrated in a central positively charged nucleus.

Ernest Rutherford Biographical Ernest Rutherford was born on , in Nelson, New Zealand, the fourth child and second son in a family of seven sons and five daughters. His father James Rutherford, a Scottish wheelwright, immigrated to New Zealand with Ernest’s grandfather and the whole family in 1842.
