Hard to determine where clubs were actually located, other than they faced Loop 410. Flashback: Abracadabra was the absolute best. Located on street level, Abracadabra had two levels within the club. A large dance floor on the first (ground) level with smaller dance floors on upper level. Confetti falling from the ceiling randomly.
Other clubs from around 1973-1976 that I remember include the Red Dog Saloon and Wellington's (owned by Craig Morton) on NW Highway. Mike Ditka owned a bar near Inwood and Maple and he was usually there on weekends. One night he brought in Chill Wills with him, who was drunk as a skunk.
By mid-70's Disco came in then the "super clubs" like the Studio 54, the Red Parrots, etc., with huge dance floor and music videos are the places to go. This is not a good visual but polyester shirts, bell-bottom pants, gold chains and Tony Orlando hair style were the craze!
