chow chow and its smell by Guest » Thu 10:48 am Hello all! I have a small problem. recently i decided to buy a chow chow puppy. I did all kind of research about them, but when i called a friend of mine that kinda knows his way around dogs, he told me that he wouldn't advise me to get one because they smell really bad.

My Chow, Hank, has been a service dog for over 2 years. Make sure to be consistent in your discipline and consistent in keeping their work time and play time separate.

Re: Where does your Chow sleep? by chow fancier » Wed 11:16 pm Cinder sleeps on the bed for at least part of most nights, then on the floor, preferably on a throw rug most of the time. Teddy sleeps on one of his dog beds or on a throw rug. When they come inside hot they lay on the floor in front of an air conditioning vent.

I have read somewhere that Chow Chows have smaller hearts than that of your average dog and that deaths in Chows can occur due to the vet determining the amount of aneasthetic given by the dogs weight, therefore giving them too much in some cases. And due to thier smaller hearts this gives rise to problems.

Well, that resulted in Chow grumblings, so the vet insisted on a muzzle, problem was he didn't have a muzzle that fit right, so the dog couldn't pant in the too tight muzzle and started thrashing. Of course the vet insisted on sedating the dog next, but I insisted on removing the muzzle and that calmed the dog.

We are considering adopting an adult chow. We recently lost our chow boy that we had for over 14 years. He was the only chow we have ever had, and we had him from a puppy, so I have a few questions about adopting an older dog. Our only experience has been with our male chow that we had neutered just before he turned 6 mos. That was the age his breeder recommended. I was told at the time that ...

I would appreciate if I have some feedback from owners who had their chows medicated for chronic cystitis (proteus sp).

Re: Has anyone ever purchased a Chow from RHR Chow Chow? by Laura » Tue 11:58 pm I don't know anything from personal experience but when I look at their website and see so many chows lined up in those enclosures I would run the other way. It looks like a chow factory farm. Just my personal opinion. What kind of life do those chows ...

I'm new here (a great community you all have going here, btw) and actively preparing in adding a chow baby to my family. We've suffered a recent loss of our 14 y/o fur baby Max, and feel it's time to make a new addition. However, the search for breeders in the North East is treacherous. I live in Central New Jersey and would like to personally be able to pick up our new addition and be able to ...

The mother and father were on site, as well as the grandparents. The subject of interest is about the cream chow's tongue pigmentation or tongue coloration. Our cream chow (named Suka), has a considerable amount of pink on her tongue. I understand that everyone of the world associate chow chows with the blue black tongue.

by Chow Chow Mama » Wed 6:05 pm Holden didn't get neutered until about 1.5 years old. He never whined. I wouldn't think that the whining would be a sign of him not being neutered... Tucker was a whiner and we could never figure out why he did that. His last year he stopped all of a sudden.

The Chow (who is male and about 2-3 years old, purebred) was being abused, not fed regularly and being left outside rain/cold or whatever. My friend is located in Kissimmee and is looking for a Chow Rescue Group who can take this very sweet little boy and give him all the TLC he deserves.

Chow Chow Breeders in Southern California by edamon » Tue 8:41 am Does anyone know of any chow breeders in southern california? I've looked around the net and can't seem to find any. In Oct of this year, our chow (angel) of 11 years passed and I think we are now ready to get a new puppy.

Let's be honest. Nobody wants to think their beloved furry friend could ever pose a real danger. We trust our dogs, we love them, and they're part of the family. Yet veterinarians see a reality that ...
